SCREW THE NORMAL LIFE!!! I'm going diving...

7 years on-air on national radio, 19 years of corporate bullshit, I've climbed the ladders always ONLY to find more stress, dissatisfaction and LESS time for what matters.

I packed up my bags in February 2009 with only 5 shirts and 4 pairs of shorts and became a PADI Instructor to live "THE SIMPLE LIFE".

THIS IS MY ADVENTURE...

The thoughts that helped me decide...

So the natural way of living life (and how it was intended at the very beginning) had nothing to do with serving bosses, superiors, managing subordinates and selling one's self to a master.

What more a corporation!

A master has a life, soul, heart, physical feelings and emotions..but a corporation!

F!@#!!! That's a totally different thing!

As it was intended, we would wake up have breakfast with the family before the men go harvest the crops or hunt for meat, while the women manage home affairs!

Reunite after the harvesting or hunting is done, have lunch and then spend the rest of the day sitting under a tree watching the livestock...before having dinner with family and sleeping!!!

WTF HAPPENED?!

Now we wake up to go to work, we work so we can buy something that then pays for some other equally pathetic soul's wages as he / she too serves some corporation!

It's a terribly vicious cycle that has resulted in humankind becoming as souless as the corporations they serve!

I get sick when I see the enthusiasm of fresh graduates, as they go out into the world looking for that launchpad into the career world. Hoping to find that success in life that would gain him or her the industry approval and the worldly recognition - the title "SUCCESSFUL"!

SUCCESSFUL IN WHOSE EYES?

  • Is one not successful if he/she chooses NOT to be rich?
  • Is one not successful if he/she chooses NOT to accept the promotion which would require him/her to put in 50% more working hours in the months that follow?

The unfortunate point to this story is that THE CORPORATION would most probably find excuses and ways of throwing this "unambitious employee" out with the excuse that he/she has the wrong working attitude...

MEET JANET

Janet say: "I'm happy being a Receptionist for the rest of my life!

I get to go home at exactly 5pm and am assured of my weekends off to spend with my kids".

One day Janet's boss decides to promote her into the Admin Department, which could require her to come back to office when there are weekend client or production meetings.

Janet says she's happy to remain a Receptionist but her Boss now says that "People like Janet don't have the right type of attitude. This company needs people who are ambitious and hungry to excel in career".

Janet then struggles to remain in that company...what happened to "She's such a great staff, we should promote her?"

WHAT WAS WRONG WITH JANET THE RECEPTIONIST?!

She's probably the best Receptionist that company would ever find - because SHE WANTS TO BE A RECEPTIONIST!!!

Just corporate bullshit...I've been there! I know this is how it works...
